A change in the weather, wind and rain for the next several days. Currently overcast, NE 20-25KPH, rain and higher winds in the forecasts by this afternoon. Similar conditions till at least midweek.

The only seiner left in the Grand Manan fleet met its demise yesterday returning to home port, I believe. Haven't got the details, however all hands accounted for, boat, just a few years old gone.

The university trip quite an experiance for both the old folks and Emily, all positive, other than the sticker shock involved in this excercise.

Morning,
Ashore for an as yet undetermined amount of time. The weather now and for the immediate future definitely on a downward spiral.

Mom nature is a month ahead of herself here. Mackeral to be had off the dock, lady slippers in full bloom for a week now, dandelions dead and gone and lupine opening up. Softshell lobsters are showing up and our price dropped to $4.50 for hardshells and $3.25 for shedders.

Good news on the seiner crew and tough luck for the boat owner. Here is hoping that he can regroup and get at it again. I am not a fan of industrial pair trawling for herring, or any fish for that matter. Small, owner operated fleets are the best conservation tool we can encourage.

The college experience for your Emily will be as much a learning experience for your family at home as it will be for Emily. Good luck.

Morning CHUNKS, not a day to be on the water, prevailing wind supposed to SW, blowing hard from NE, not a common thing this time of year to have it sustained.

The university orientation another life experience, don't know if magnified due to be the grandparent or what, quite something. We met as a group, students and "supporters", Emily hanging close to her grandmother the whole time. They split the group from the old folks to their individual faculty and away they went. Emilys major fear was she would be all alone, not a soul would speak with her as she didnt know a soul. We come together three hours later, and advised I could leave. She was in the middle of three strangers having a hell of a conversation, that I would not have any knowledge of even if I was included. She was pleased with the day and what the challenges are ahead for her, looks difficult, but not overwhelming is her observation.

Chilean red wine a fine beverage, Sara no doubt taking advantage of the good price strictly from a fiscal point of view. Her return to the real world coming all too soon, pleased she is taking advantage of her travel opportunity.
