FRIDAY, NEW YEARS EVE 2010
By: GRANDMANAN , 11:51 AM GMT on December 31, 2010
A KODAK moment looking out over the harbour, total calm, red sky, remnants of a large jet trail over Ross Island, temp near the freeing mark. Temp to rise on the plus side with showers and fog in the forecast for the first few days of 2011.
A number of waterfowl gathered up, just sitting around in small groups, discussing how to bring in the New Year.
The arena transformation nearly complete by the end of the day yesterday. Two fellows from St. Andrews come over and trained the volunteers on this end. The ice is now painted white, the lines and circles down, impressive doesn't do it justice as a descriptor. ZAMBONI will be delivered next week, another long anticipated item in this process. Remains to be seen if the final flooding can be done to allow opening this evening. Many of the volunteers will be on the water today, taking advantage of the dramatic change in weather.
