The failure rate of the Oregon Scientific anemometer being what it is, the 968 is being replaced with a Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus. Besides just improving the existing instrument package this will add Solar radiation and UV Index info to the site. The Weatherlink software is different and has some nice features... though it's not all THAT when it comes to generated graphics. Virtual Weather Station gets a nod in that department.
The new unit gets installed tomorrow and we'll be all involved with cutting over to Weatherlink though I won't be divorcing VWS. The Weatherlink templating system is much more 'programmer friendly' than VWS and I'll be using that to generate a template for a csv file that contains all the data the site needs. That will be the end of the multiple file ftp uploads for basic weather data.
Here's hoping the Davis unit stands up to the rigors of use better than the Oregon Scientific.
