FEB 11, 2009: Sorry, folks, have been very sick with a horrid chest cold. The weather stinks (rain and wind) and I am trying to get well. . .

Love and Peanut Butter (sandiquiz)
I cleared a space on the outdoor table and spread out some bird food. I then buttered some multi-grain bread with peanut butter and all the birds loved it. These little long-tailed tits (about the size of a small mouse) really liked it.... resulting in love blossoming!! Here in Middle England we have had about 8 inches of snow on top of the snow and ice from earlier in the week. There is more due tonight:(

Over My Head (Feather3)
I decided to walk before the storm came in, so I wandered over to the headlands above Pudding Creek Beach. When I arrived, it was getting windy. I noticed a male American Kestrel hovering above a flock of Western Meadowlarks that were feeding on the ground, so I got as close as I dared and sat down. No sooner had I sat down, the kestrel flew right over me and began hovering, staring down at me as if to say "HA HA HA, you can't DO this." :) Hands were a bit shaky from the wind and the excitement of having this bird come right over my head.

Good Morning! It's always so nice to see your pictures every day. They so remind me of home and make me long to come out there. We just had a baby born into the family out there, so I'll be out there sooner than later.

Have a great day,
Brooke

Hi Feather, many thanks for including my female blackbird in your blog. She has become a great favourite, coming within a couple of feet of the window to eat the offerings I leave out for them. She has deformed feet, with one rear claw curling forward, coming up between the other claws. They don't seem to hinder her, she manages just fine.

Thanks again, everyone! It's a stormy day here coast side. . .I managed to get out there and take over 300 shots today. . .making up for the last week, I guess LOL

Feeling better and better and was surprised at the energy I had. Am now eating some spaghetti an Italian friend made for me (she's my buddy) and sipping some hot coffee after being out there in the cold wind. . .tonight's supposed to get horrendously windy, so after I eat I gotta get the laundry done before the power goes out!

Hello Feather! Nice blog! I have to say there are a few photos here I missed! I'm glad you are keeping track because there are some amazing shots! Thanks for posting some of my shots here too! You know me, I'd rather be shooting a storm but the hawks lately are a very close second! :-)

Have a great day!

Feather, I've enjoyed this blog over and over. The photographers are simply amazing, and I appreciate the time and effort you put forth to bring this all together. It sure is better than going out birdwatching in this long, cold NY winter!

I love your bird photos. Do you give artists permission to use them as subjects in paintings? I would love to speak with you. Thank you.
