Anything birds. . .and especially birds with a love theme, will go here :) Enjoy!
FEB 11, 2009: Sorry, folks, have been very sick with a horrid chest cold. The weather stinks (rain and wind) and I am trying to get well. . .
Windy conditions made flight shots fun today.
I had fun photographing birds out my window today.
Osprey at Wakodahatchee wetlands
Not as colourful as Mandarins but still quite pretty.
Female Blackbird looking disgruntled because of the snow.
Up to a foot of snow is expected in London before the end of the day!!
"The" cardinal at the Wildlife Sanctuary. The only male cardinal I can find, where there were maybe 30 pair last year.
It's not quack, quack, quack. It's HONK, HONK, HONK.
My favorite falcon, near Alameda Creek
It is cold in the desert at night, But soon after the sun comes up the hummers appear.
He usually hides in the shade...
Snowy afternoon in Cincinnati, the Cardinals are feeding in the snow,
do you like the Spa?
These are the first bluebirds I can remember seeing. : ) The females have a white ring around their eyes.
I had never seen before in my garden this European Goldfinch, I was so excited : here in France, it's the most colorful bird you can see around!
Lining a tree along the Alameda Creek with golden cheer ;)
Colors in the golden dusk (

Anna's Hummingbird male
The Eagles are now checking over their nests from last year notice she has a band on her leg.
EARLY FEBRUARY AND THE ROBINS ARE STILL HERE, OR ARE THEY JUST RETURNING ?
I haven't posted on this site in a long time!
Black-crowned Night Heron pair at Coyote Hills
I cleared a space on the outdoor table and spread out some bird food. I then buttered some multi-grain bread with peanut butter and all the birds loved it. These little long-tailed tits (about the size of a small mouse) really liked it.... resulting in love blossoming!!
Here in Middle England we have had about 8 inches of snow on top of the snow and ice from earlier in the week. There is more due tonight:(
Spring is just around the corner
I confess, I haven't been a fan of zoo pictures - until I went to the Santa Barbara Zoo today - and guess what, I couldn't stop taking pictures.
While similar to some of my other egret photos, it's hard not to want to take this photo :)
White-breasted nuthatch (

This Northern Flicker has spent the winter nearby in the kid's playhouse. He makes a fun, interesting neighbor on these cold winter days.
The tree swallows are returning to Coyote Hills, and for once I saw one... in a tree! :)
Today at N.E.W. Zoo in Green Bay, WI.
YOU ARE MERE MAN! (

One of many Friday/Saturday eagle and scenic photos I shot in Southwestern Wisc and Northeastern Iowa. What a fantastic day Saturday was except for the speeding ticket I got.
Fascinating to see the flexibility of these creatures.
The Mississippi River is still frozen in places near St. Louis and the eagles ride the ice down river.
Your not such an ugly duckling (
Geordie)
The dominant pair on the pond swimming together
These eagles are nesting in the Windom area. It is nice to see.
Purple Finch lit from behind with golden sun on logs.

Found this guy at Glacier Gourge in RMNP while snowshoeing today....that's healthy food in his mouth...it's a Health Food Bar...some of mine!!!

Graceful black-necked swans (native to South America) swim under the bridge as you enter Santa Barbara Zoo. This one symbolizes a great truth that I believe - the way to have grace beyond question. Ephesians 1:7
FLORIDA BIRDS LOVE FLORIDA ORANGES
Eagle Love!! Can you see the Heart shape between there heads?? I took this shot early this morning and just looked at it on my computer. I LIKE this Shot!!!
Just in time for Valentines day

An Inca Dove observes the first signs of Spring in central Texas.
I almost got these two posed together perfectly, ah well, maybe next time :)
All the little birds and big birds were all returning home this evening to roost in their favorite spots.

...this male sunbird suddenly flew in just as i was photographing his female companion feeding on the other mini hibiscus on the left (which was not captured).
I decided to walk before the storm came in, so I wandered over to the headlands above Pudding Creek Beach. When I arrived, it was getting windy. I noticed a male American Kestrel hovering above a flock of Western Meadowlarks that were feeding on the ground, so I got as close as I dared and sat down. No sooner had I sat down, the kestrel flew right over me and began hovering, staring down at me as if to say "HA HA HA, you can't DO this." :) Hands were a bit shaky from the wind and the excitement of having this bird come right over my head.
Two tiny birds at Butterfly World
Not sure if this pair is going to build a nest in this tree or if he is just prestnting her with a twig? he did this several time when I was watching.

Just wait until mom gets back!
He looked like he was standing perfectly still, but the long exposures showed he was not, this is one where he did stay still long enough for a reasonable photo.

Feeling better and better and was surprised at the energy I had. Am now eating some spaghetti an Italian friend made for me (she's my buddy) and sipping some hot coffee after being out there in the cold wind. . .tonight's supposed to get horrendously windy, so after I eat I gotta get the laundry done before the power goes out!
