So we all arrived in San Antonio with bountiful of gifts to the godchildren hoping to begin their Thanksgiving and usher in the magical season.
The gifts were well received: and before our eyes Dustin's Transformer toy transformed him into a hero with courage and the shy voice displayed only five minutes before, suddenly rang out with bravado and the declaration~ "This is the toy I've waited for all my life "
Perhaps when he's 18 and wants a car, I shall reminisce about the toy he received at 4.
* and Bella - moments before opening her gift, gave a cat 5 performance that could have given Mother Nature a run for her money: But as this 2 year old slowly began to dress herself before our very eyes turned into a costumed Barbie princess complete with pink purse, high heels, earrings and pink gloves. She walked around the house with the confidence of any royal living today: and with complete abandonment. She believed.
I realized that although these material gifts will eventually fall by the wayside of life: There is a soul giving gift that children give to us. Through their spirit and action if we truly listen and receive they give us:
re-affirmation, re-awakening and re-minding of what we used to possess until we let it go. Or forgot how to believe Or we're so busy wanting to CONFORM, we CON ourselves and lose our creative way.
Or so afraid of being laughed at, we lose our sense of humor and confidence in our being.
And although we gave Dustin and Bella the "best gift ever" little did they know the life gift of transformation and spiritual transfiguration was given to me.
This time, its a keeper.
After running, playing, telling stories and long walks they re-taught me:
1) Use the imagination - its a gift to be shared not feared
2) Ask questions until you understand - that's empowerment
3) Unconditional love - nothing like a kid to just shout out, "I love you" at any given moment.
4) If you color outside the lines - you will discover more spaces to create in.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE PICTURES:
May all your gifts be re-warding.
