Where Does Winter Go?

Where does Winter go
After it's had its time?

Look in the shadow sides
Of hills and cuts
That the wind-snow found,
That the sun never did.

Look under thick stones,
Into nature's safes;
Behind those locked doors,
Winter sleeps late.

Look in the dreams
Of children who will
Remember snow
All through their love of summer.

glad you liked the ditty, not much snow left here,
that's what prompted the "hills and cuts" stanza.

we had flurries yesterday, but it was only a
visual snowfall, nothing stayed around. it's been
windy here, keeping it not-so-friendly outside,
high humidity (from breezes off the bay or ocean)
make for bone-chilling but not cold days.

nice poem about the water cycle!

It melts away into the shadows,
drips down the hills,
seeps between the rocks
and patiently waits
for its time
to come

Great poem, Earl! With that bright sun showing for you, and 37 degrees, you no doubt have some melting and warming going on yourself. It's time. It be be warm enough here today for open windows. It certainly is going to be outdoor time this afternoon, before our possibilities of rain go up. No quarrel with rain, though. We need it.
