Wow a week of real Northern California winter weather... finally! Here at the house we got over 5 inches of rain but no problems with flooding. The seasonal creeks are finally running and everything is wet. It's rather nice to have above-freezing temps in the morning too. Feels downright WARM at 48 this morning! But looks like we are going back to a week of drier weather and some frost. Just hope the rain doesn't go away permanently. We still need a lot more.

Get out the Rain Boots!

Whoa - taking a look at the forecast for the coming week and looks like our long dry spell is due to end. Starting Tuesday night, storm after storm dropping - can that be correct?- 3.5 inches on Wednesday? and more, every day after? We will go from Fire Danger to Flood pretty quickly if this is true.

This series of storms should get the lakes back into action - and fill up the ponds that were built last summer.

New Years Day critters

A coyote hunting up in our frosty pasture just before dawn. Was there for about half an hour - sitting, stalking, looking for something to eat!

Last week on the Solstice we hiked up at Pillsbury and got close to the elk herd (we were in the truck). Beautiful day -
