I am a teacher, I got out of university with a liberal arts degree, which as some of you know is a big money maker. Being that I am more of what you would call a 'rogue' I decided to look else where for employment. My first sortie into the world of language instructor landed me in the windy Atacama region of Northern Chile. I was lucky enough to stick with this 'career' and I've found myself nearly enroute to Tulum, Mexico to which I'll make my berth on the 8th of August. I've spent alot of time on the Baja side, my grandmother retired down there and spends half of her year there, which has made 'going to grandmothers house' a whole lot more exciting. However, I've never been to the Yucatan Peninsula and I'm afraid that my fragile, pink, heat-sensitive Pacific Northwest Borne constitution will be under extreme duress in the blazing humidity that that area is somewhat famous for. The other 'concern', albiet more of a curiosity is "What is the deal with Hurricanes?" (I didn't have a clever Sienfieldian quip prepared, sorry). I've not been subject to any major weather related catastrophe and I guess I want some insight. What are other peoples experiences with hurricanes either in that area or wherever? How is the weather in general? I'm assuming shorts and sandals are legit formal wear. I'm really excited and I want to make sure to pack the right stuff.
Peace and Love
Josen
