This weekend has a feel of early fall, even though we're in the middle of August. The system that brought our severe weather on Thursday ushered in cooler weather for the weekend, with a strong trough dominating the eastern US.

While this trough may be bringing flooding rains to the east coast and cool weather (70's) to the interior, it's a blessing in disguise. Hurricane Bill is being pushed north and east by the trough, and is now weakened to a category 1 storm.
