I love all kinds of weather. I've stood in the middle of a blizzard, in two different regions of the country. I've seen two tornadoes and a waterspout. I've stood on the beach during a landfalling hurricane. You name the extreme, and I've probably experienced it. But there's something about late winter that wears me down.
Being the end of February, winter is winding down, but it's not quite gone yet. During January we saw so many interesting weather systems roll through our area, that it kept my mind off the fact that it was cold and gray outside. Now we're going on almost a month without any measurable snow and the grind of winter is getting me down.
I'm the kind of person that enjoys warm days, sunshine and the ability to roll my windows down on the way home from work. Winter has began to wear me down, and I'm ready for spring.
When's Spring Coming
Looking ahead in the operational GFS, we won't see spring-like conditions here in Central Ohio anytime in the near future.
Going off of trends from last year, we could be looking at mid-March before seeing consistantly warmer weather. Last March's blizzard (March 7th) pretty much marked the end of winter last year. After that, temperatures averaged low 50's for the rest of the month.
I can't wait.
