Tracking Saturn?: 3+ Days Out

The computer models are going to change with every run for at least the next 24-36 hours for our next storm next week. If this develops in to the big snowmaker it's predicted to be, it will be named Winter Storm Saturn and it could be our last shot at snow for the season.

The latest 120 hour GFS snowfall forecast is bringing a large swath of snow right in to our area by Wednesday:

That break in the snowfall line could be hinting at the system diving southward and cutting off our snow. This forecast is bringing us right at 2-3" of accumulation, but areas just west in to Indiana are up to a foot.

Right now the big question is how far north this storm goes. Yesterday the question was whether a secondary low would develop. That's no longer a question with the latest models, they all see to agree on that. The question now is whether this storm comes in around southern Kentucky or northern Alabama. That would be the difference between 6" and a dusting for us.

I'll update more as computer models come in to a better agreement.
