Hello fellow shutterbugs from maine. Thought I would start a new blog with photographs of JUST Maine locations BUT you do not have to be a maine resident to post a photo from Maine here. It just has to be a photo of someplace here in Maine. I am going to post a few of my favoriates from other folks as well as a few of mine and of my son Rocket11's photos. Please add your photos of Maine here as well. Looking forward to your photos. Mike in maine

Open to pedestrians today, the new Narrows bridge is the first and only cable-stay bridge in Maine. It is also the only bridge with an observatory in North and South America, one of only three such bridges in the entire world. Not sure what is going to happen to the older bridge.

Downeast Maine finally gets some snow this morning. How beautiful and peaceful it is! I enjoy how the snow surrounds the dark waters of the pond deep in the woods.
This large thunderstorm approached York, Maine from the northwest. I saw the lightning and hot-footed it to the Nubble Lighthouse. When I arrived, the storm was maybe a mile or two away. Ironically, my best friend was standing next to the lobster house he works at (he just got off of work. This place is a restaurant/ice cream stand) and he was just staring at the lightning. It downpoured. The wind howled, making not only the flag, but the flagpole sway. Lightning was everywhere, in huge, thunderous bolts. This bolt came down as the storm started to head offshore. It looked a bit overexposed at the time, but every time I look at it, it's better and better.

This picture was the last of this trip to Portsmouth. Same place as the previous, but the bright bolt you see in the upper left hand corner was all I saw. It landed cloud-to-ground JUST across the river in Kittery, Maine. I saw that and I packed my things and left to the haven of my car parked about fifty feet away, getting soaked in the process.
