WSW issued for my area. Kind of surprised by it. Have a hard time believing it will stay mostly snow here. Still thinking more like 1-3", not 4-8" lol

... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late tonight through
late Wednesday night...

A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late tonight through
late Wednesday night.

* Locations... the Lehigh Valley and southern Poconos in eastern
Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey.

* Hazard types... mainly snow. Some sleet or freezing rain could
mix with the snow Wednesday afternoon and evening.

* Accumulations... 4 to 8 inches of snow.

* Timing... the snow will begin during the early morning hours of
Wednesday. The snow will fall with varying intensity during
Wednesday into Wednesday evening. The snow should taper off
late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

* Impacts... the Wednesday morning commute will be affected as
snow will be falling and untreated roads will be slick and
snow covered. The Wednesday evening commute could be affected
more significantly as snow accumulations could reach near 6
inches in places by Wednesday evening.

* Winds... northeast 5 to 10 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

* Visibilities... one quarter to one half mile at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

question for the gardeners out there- any idea when the best time to split a hydrangea? I live in just north of NYC. I read that I should wait until the last frost has passed. Since it might snow on Wed or Thursday, I supposed I should wait a few more weeks, but would appreciate any advice out there. Thanks!

Best times to divide hydrangeas are in the fall when the leaves have fallen and the bushes are ready to go dormant or in early spring before new growth begins.

0.40" of rain today. it actually warmed up a bit this afternoon with broken clouds and the sun. a high of 57F

the forecast for the next week is crazy. i keep seeing rain/snow then just rain then rain/snow then rain. can't seem to make up its mind for the next week. and then Sunday no mention of rain, just snow
that is crazy. bring me warm and a week of dry weather. I'd like to get my first turn of the garden soon.

Lt, I know many others that are in the same boat as you. I bet it makes for a very exciting tournament though! I wish I was more into it.

P451, as long as April isn't like this then I think I should be able to survive the rest of march.

An inch or two of slush/wet snow. Still snowing.

Thanks for the photo, P451, and the forecasts, TT! Rainy and foggy here; 46F.

Looks like I'll be in DC for the rain and then back in Philly before any snow. *sigh* I loved the warm days, though, and tiny flowers coming up in the forest. Looking forward to green everywhere! Hope everyone's doing well.

Had the joys of replacing the gfs car battery this morning during the nice misting rain. Just what I want to do after driving back from Pittsburgh early AM and spending all weekend helping someone move. *le sigh*

Still having a moderate wet snow here in Stamford CT. Temp. is down to 34F. The grass is totally covered, and now the street has a covering. But looking at radar, it looks like the bulk of this precip. should be over by 10:30 or so this morning. Just now the snow has become light. Baro. down to 30.19, not that low.Wind is South, 2-7mph.

Hi TheF1Man, I'm doing fine. Having fun watching "March Madness"!, I was in something of a quandry, I think that's the right word, I graduated from the Univ. of Cincinnati, so when they played Uconn, my other favorite college team it was hard to watch. I did want UC to win, but now of course I'm behind Uconn. all the way.

Hey LT I'm doing great thanks for asking! I was on break this past week(and boy did I need it). I was starting to fall apart as midterms came around. After days like the past two it definitely becomes more difficult. That is not the news I was hoping for, but thanks I will check their blogs as well. How are you doing?

Hey, F1Man, how are you? hope studies are going well. I know it gets harder to study as the weather gets better!. Henry Margusity on Accuweather is hinting at some snow for us by Wed.! Check his blog today. Also check NYCvort's blog here on WU for a longer range look.LT

Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Albany New York
703 am EDT Friday Mar 18 2011

For most part regime allows
cold air advection from large surface high over ont/qb to dominate weather...as chilly
nights and cool seasonable days continue..Aka Maple sugar weather.

Now that's a sweet discussion!

Just back from 9 days in Florida helping my wife with her endurance races. She did great! Only 1 day of rain in Ocala area and looks like I missed a stretch of warm/wet wx up in VT. As we were driving north yesterday/today the first snows on the ground didn't appear until the VT/MA border. We still have about a foot of snowpack up here and many feet in the mountains. Maple sugaring season in full swing. Great spring skiing.

65 today...

Friday looking a-ok, a little breezy though...

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. West wind between 9 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Some big changes in the forecast beginning next Wednesday March 23rd compared to what was thought 2 days ago. Instead of rounding out March as warm & wet, it's looking more and more like we round out March as cool/cold & wet.

Hmmm, what's this I see? Does the winter of 2010-2011 have one last gasp?

Hamilton NJ...

Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Mount Pocono, PA

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain or freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: A chance of rain, snow, and freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday: A chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
