this evening on our way back across the lake from the south- we counted over 50 pelicans flying along the causeway on the east side- hunting fish- that's the most that we have ever counted going home.. and there were lots of white herons or "cranes" up past covington in the fields with the horses and cows.. the clouds were very low and in bands over the lake- felt very tropical. The chickens aren't laying either- so I'd say that we're in for a soaking for a few days..

looks like invest 93L is very disorganized still.. If it does become a Tropical Storm.. it's anybody's guess where in the GOM she will land.. All I know is that we need rain, very badly.

It's been a hot and dry June, with little rain. We have a burn ban in effect, and I am reminded of why we stay out late in New Orleans in the summer.. it's too darn hot to go out until after the sun sets to socialize!! We waited until the sun had set to celebrate a birthday dinner with some older relatives who really shouldn't venture out in the 100' temps. We need some rain badly to cool things down. My bluberries are looking like raisins!

Well it's that time again...Hurricane Season and the Gulf is starting to heat up like the storm soakin' jacuzzi that is is.Most people have Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter as the way that they "season" their annual calendars.. Here is South Louisiana, we love "seasonings" so ours are a little like our beloved cayenne peppers- hot and spicy seasons....Four major, with a lot of other festivals and hunting seasons in between.. In short, our life is full here and we...
