Someone is 'barking mad' when they have reached that state of dementia when barking is a reasonable method of speech (according to my UK friends). For Aloysius it means 'back off or I will remove your face'.Cats don't bark you say - well they do when angry enough. It sounds like a short exhaled staccato yip and may include the stamping of feet. Aloysius really does look at you sideways. No one knows why, he just does. There may be problems as he ages but so far every thing seems to work OK. Mr Kitty, the last feline resident lived for twenty years and never did manage to land where he intended. A zoologist friend claimed he needed glasses.
