An Old Irish Blessing

May love and laughter light your days,

Alley ~ Yesterday, I made a huge pot of tortilla soup - minus the tortillas! It's wonderful, and a couple of tablespoons of corn meal adds to the flavor without the calories of the tortillas.

I'm not a sandwich eater at all. I don't suppose I've had a loaf of bread in the house for a month. It's the sweets and late night eating that do me in. If I cut out the sugar and stop eating at the computer, something ought to happen by the end of the month!

Good morning SHORES, Ylee. Shores, if you feel you need something to nibble on, go for healthy snacks. We mostly snack at night because we are bored and not because we are hungry. Popcorn is fine as a choice, just don't add too much salt to it or douse it with heavy butter....there is a nice spray butter out there that is ideal for popcorn. It's like a spritzer and does not overpower your popcorn with butter but still gives the flavor. I make my own seasoned salt using less salt but more herbs and spices like paprika, cayenne etc to enhance the flavors. Put that on your popcorn. I opt for spicy as I love the "heat" Hope this helps with those late night munchies.... Now for the sweet crave, I love my green tea and herbal teas. I just use a bit of honey to sweeten and that takes away the craving for something sweet.

It's warming up nicely here, but with the warmth comes clouds and rain! Oh, well, better than snow, I guess! :' )

Hope you're having a good day!

Sun is shining it's around 30F and I was just out to feed Browyn who was sunning himself on the porch swing. He has his cushion there that he likes to lay on. Spoiled or what? LOL. I am trying not to get into too much mischief today but it's hard to refrain when so many just set it up so nicely....ROFLMBO.

Good morning everyone. A good start to the early morning with coffee brewing and the news playing in the background. Kitties are fed, really not bad out this morning. No wind right now and it is 25F here. We should get up around the freezing mark today. So far with the sun we had yesterday, the little snow we did have left is now gone. Perhaps Spring is in the air, we just need temps to make it so.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday and that your forecast be fair and starting to warm up too. Just another few more days, then it should be more like our normal temps for here.

No snow here, just green grass Ylee. Don't know yet for is in our forecast for today but I suspect we may see rain since we will be up near 40F here today. We were fortunate yesterday everything stayed well South and east of us.

Good morning dear ones. We got up into the mid 40s yesterday. What a nice feeling to feel a bit of warmth but with overcast skies for most of the days, we sure missed that sunshine. Looks like today will be a mix of both sun and cloud along with whatever Mother Nature has up her sleeve. Temps again will be similar to yesterday. Sunday we could see 60F...Whoooo Hooo.

Have a great day everyone.

Hope you have a good day!

LMBO, yup Ylee, I did. Wanted you folks to feel a bit of the chill too. Today was another nice day in the low 40s. Tomorrow should take us up to the low 50s. Gonna be another nice sunny day. Temps will cool a bit during the coming week but still better than Feb. Spring is slow to show her face this year. Come girl, don't be shy, we are all waiting for ya.....

Starting to warm up here for the day, the sun has burned off what frost we did have, birds are watching the feeding dish as the kitties come by to have their breakfast. LOL Love when Browyn sleeps on the cushion I have for him on the porch swing. It sure keeps those starlings up on the wire...heee hee heeee

Have a great morning everyone. Looks like it will be a decent day.

Good morning Alley.

We have a sunny day, cold at the moment but it should warm up as the progresses.

Crocus and Jonquil buds are dancing in the sun, waiting for the proper moment to smile at the world with their joyful colors and scents. Camellias are in bloom, as are some Pieris shrubs. Birds are gathering twigs and leaves for their nests, and so are the squirrels. Soon we will be enjoying the happy sounds of the squirrels as they merrily chase each other round and round the tree trunks, also the chirps of new baby birds will fill the flower scented air. Proserpina is awake and hard at work.

May the warm rays of the Spring sun warm and delight your heart.

Good Morning, (((Alley))) ~

We have survived yet another Nor'easter our way and are also presently experiencing the first weekend in ages that shows sunshine, blue skies and warmer temps throughout! YEAH! Most of our roads and walkways are bare again but it'll take awhile before we see snow-free yards. Hopefully, another storm expected on Wednesday will produce only rain and help to further alleviate all this heavy wet snow.

I'm not sure if you're effected by our time zones in the U.S., but tonite we get to turn our clocks ahead one hour to a longer hour of daylight hour and, hopefully, the promise of a very pleasant official arrival of springtime in about two weeks. Can't wait to re-experience those warmer days and new growth emerging from the ground! It feels like ages since the last time!

Hope you're doing well and experience more pleasant weekend weather your way!

Yeah, it's 41F here at the moment. Going to turn out to be a great day with temps going up to around 60F. A real taste of spring before it cools down for the rest of the week a bit. You will see alot of folks in their yards today in shirt sleeves around here. We have had no snow for a while now and the lawns are starting to green up a bit. I will probably go out later too and check on the yard for what work will have to be done to bring the bushes in check for spring.

Temps for the rest of the week will be cooler but above freezing so I can live with that but can't wait until the 60s are here to stay.

Anyway have a great Sunday. Catch you all later.

Good Morning, (((Alley))) ~

Wow, you could see your temps rise to near 60F degrees today? Care to share??? LOL! Can't complain too much, right now, as we have sunshine, blue skies mixed with puffy whites and temps to near the mid-forties. It's a pleasant reprieve from the succession of snowy weekends felt for the latter half of February into March! This morning, I actually saw a wild rabbit hoppin' about our backyard in search of those open grassy areas that are gradually expanding from snow melt. Hopefully, it's a sign that spring hopes eternal (play on words) for much better weathered, warmer days to soon be in our permanent grasp! We could all use it right now!

Enjoy your Sunday and week to come!

Alley, I just know you'll love these photos. The photographer is the grand-daughter of the Japanese lady, and her cat is a stray. I smiled all the way through. There are some great pics.

Thank you Shores for the Granny Pics. What a wonderful collection. What a garden she grows. WOW. Beautiful kitty for a wonderful woman.

Had a beautiful day here with temps near 60F. Sure made the day worthwhile to sit outside for a bit this afternoon. Going to start to cool down once the rains start but that is expected. We will see warm days again soon. Patience.

Have a great evening everyone.

It's raining out, temps are going up into the 50s today, a true Spring day....Too bad it's going to turn a bit cooler once the rain has passed through but in the meantime Enjoy dear friends. Yes it's wet, dark and gloomy out but at least it's warm enough to still enjoy after the cold winter we have had.

Gotta go out in it a bit later to take the trash to the road and will need a jacket to keep dry. But it will be refreshing anyway.

Hope you all have a great day no matter your weather.

Hi, Alley! we got over an inch of rain, most of it is still standing in the yard! Turned quite a bit colder, too!

I'm looking for March to go out like a lamb; how about you? :' )

We got a lot of rain today too and yes it has cooled down. The wind has been the biggest culprit.

Don't care how March goes out, as long as it takes Old Man Winter and flings him to the farthest Northern regions it can find. So tired of this even though we have had a reasonably mild winter. I want sunshine and warmer temps to be consistent.

Rain is gone, temps are a bit cooler this morning and it's still overcast. We did manage to get up into the low 50s yesterday but what a deluge of rain. Because we did not get much snow this winter, it was welcomed. Once we start seeing more sunshine, it will soon green up. Ah the thoughts of lawnmowers, weed pulling and spring planting.....what fun. Most of all I just want to feel the warm sunshine against my face as I am sitting outside with a coffee.

Have a wonderful day dear ones.

I usually look at warm weather this time of year with a wary eye, as the next six weeks are the busiest time of year for the severe weather that warmth brings!

I'll take 60 and calm, TYVM! :' )

Good morning Alley.
I wish it would start warming up here on the prairie. The spring thaw should be starting but it's still freezing and snowing.
I wish I could have a chat with my ancestors and tell them not to stay on the prairie.
Enjoy the day.

Friday is half over, work is just about done so I guess it's time to think about what I will do for the wknd. One thing is for sure, I will be cooking up a storm tomorrow making my corned beef and cabbage dinner for Sunday.

An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Ok Tony, both you and MUSH can stop sending us this snow. Your little Clipper has already dropped a couple of inches of the white stuff. I guess you don't want me to go out and celebrate St Paddy's day tomorrow...you rascal.

That is ok, these Irish eyes will still be smilin' and I will enjoy a real Irish dinner of corned beef and cabbage tomorrow...

Have a great day both you stinkers....

Good Afternoon, (((Alley)))!

Looks like we'll be trading in our Irish Green today for more shades of white on Tuesday, as another foot of heavy wet snow is expected to arrive early am and last throughout. OUCH! Guess ole Punxsutawney Phil had the wool pulled over his eyes, as well, when falsely exclaiming that there would be a reduction to our usual six wintry weeks. HA!! Well, hubby and I plan to make the most of these couple of snow-free days by running essential errands while the asphalt remains dry. No room or energy for Irish Jigs anymore. LOL!

Hope you make out better your way, but it appears that many of us are caught up in the same snowy avalanche. Hope we can overcome cabin-fever before summer! LOL!
