Yesterday we were hovering about 18F. Last night when we went to bed it was -1. Now, sitting here in the growing light of morning, it is -16. And set to stay there for a while. It COULD be -30. So I'm not complaining. I was just hoping the forecasts (sorry Levi) were wrong. For once. ;)
Hi Bob... hope it's warming up for you now. :)

Good morning Tori,
How are things in the "bannana belt" of Alaska. Something is incredibly wrong with our weather lately as you are showing a reading of 30 this morning and it is -15 in Bella Vista, Arkansas with 15" of snow on the ground! In reading some of the storm reports in the region, Bartlesville and Ponca City, Oklahoma had -27.4 degrees and -24 respectively. A town 20 miles to the west of Bella Vista received 25" of snow and broke the all time record for a snowfall in Oklahoma.
Don't know what happened, but Mother Nature has all things catty-wampus down here in the Heartland.
Since you were wondering where the snow went, I think we found it down here in NW Arkansas and NE Oklahoma!!!
Later. .

yikes, Tori-sounds scary! Is anyone liking the "new and improved" format here? I keep going back to the classic-easier to find stuff.

Schnauzer-mom, you're asking the wrong person. LOL! I may live in AK, but we just now got a good amount of snow. Still way below "normal" for us. You'll have to ask the people on the East Coast! LOL!

Carol, that 4.6 was right under us... first time in a long time I considered moving to a doorway!

Good day everyone!!! We need u to send some cold, snowy weather south to Oregon; please tell it to pass u by, if u want, and send it our way. We very little 'snow pack' in the mountains, & I'd like to see snow in the valley for a few days before Winter is over. It's been like early Spring lately. Crazy, it's just crazy!!

HI there! Yes, we really do have to bonk them on the head. Well, the small ones. The big ones require a 9mm or .357. ;) Anything over about 60-70 pounds, to be exact. You ever make it back up to the peninsula, we'll let you experience it first hand. :)
I have flown with bush pilots, and there is nothing contrived in this show. Unlike some of the other shows. Flying those small planes up here can be quite the challenge. ;)

Today was brutally beautiful. Blowing snow... chilly, but much warmer than last week. The chickens are happy, and so am I!

Tori, watched all of Sarah Palin's Alaska adventures. Saw Soldotna on a sign. Really enjoyed watching the halibut fishing in Homer. Gonna do that the next time. Ya got to club them over the head...do you really???

Started watching Flying Wild Alaska. Anything that keeps me in touch with your gorgeous state.

Hey, they never found Mason McCloud's plane. I am pretty sure it went down in the ocean. (somewhere off the Katmai) He may never be found. Such a heartbreak for his parents.

Hope you get ten inches of snow.

I can't really call the stuff on the ground snow. At least not here. It's ice, impersonating snow. ;) The dog goes out and lays on her back, scratching, on the frozen crunchiness. You can't make a ball out of it without melting it first, so it doesn't qualify.

"Every State, with the exception of Florida, currently has snow on the ground. This includes Hawaii where about seven inches of snow is atop Mauna Kea. As of Jan. 11, 69.4 percent of the contiguous United States is covered by snow - this is more than double the snow cover from last month. This week's snow storm in Southern states has allowed for this unusual occurrence." the above is from NOAA

It's suppose to be 40 here today, so you cancount us out of snow cover shortly. Talk about a January thaw...this is silly.

Hi guys, Carol sorry you can't have your snow stay a little longer. We have been chilly here but at least no freezing temps lately.

Grams, Tori and Carol hope the New Year has been treating you well.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas...I certainly did. In NE Wyo for the holiday. Up and across Montana on I90 over there and down and across Wyo on I80 home. Good roads both ways. It was suppose to snow yesterday, but got a dusting then rain and wind. Woke this morning to a couple of inches. Hoooooray!!!!! It has covered up the ugly ice. And boy, has the temp dropped. Almost 40 yesterday and 17 here this AM. Have a good day everyone.

When I bumped into this on one of my regular reads, I just had to bring it over. It's so great - now I need to go searching and find out where the town is!

Lovely pics of the eclipse, by the way. We had decent viewing down here south of Houston, too, and I met neighbors at 2 a.m. in the parking lot I've never seen!
