Sorry about the no show. Things did get a bit crazy here...
bought a new pair of shoes that messed up my knee. I woke up on Easter sunday trying to figure out why my knee was so swollen I couldnt' see the knee cap. Was laid up for 10 days. Then as I was starting to recover it was time for the TRIP.
As I was planning this trip, I told the BF to keep May 4-7th open. He inquired why and I simply told him I wanted to see if I coulf pull things together before I filled him in. A week later on Saturday, I told him that he wouldn't be going home from work on May 3rd and wouldn't get home until the afternoon of the 7th. And he was to pack his bags for 80-90 degree weather.
Oh, I didn't realize how much he HATES suprises. He was asking all of my friends at work. "Do you know where I am going on Vacation?"
After I made the reservations, I called him to tell him that he was the designated driver on the rental car. He asked if we were going Disney. Being caught off guard, I stuttered just perfectly and he thought he had me. "You can't keep a secret from me, because I will find out." I asked if tht was a chanllenge because if it was, I accept. Then he inquired Land or World....Seriously, on a 4 day weekend? Land of course.
Then I began to sing Disney songs to him when we were together and really pumping up the whole Disney thing....Of course this was NOT where I had bought tickets to.
When we arrived at the airport I tried to video his reaction to learning that we were in fact going to Las Vegas, but it wasn't worth the effort. When he inquired as to where we were staying, I told him some low end hotel chain. It was working until he went online on his Ipad and discovered that that specific chain doesn't have any hotels in Vegas. NUTS!! ( I since discovered he was messing with me.
After checking out the rental car, I installed the Garmin to the window holder and programed it for "Hotel - Las Vegas". He was a sport about following it without knowing where he was going....until it told him to "Turn right here."
"The Vanitian, Nice!"
Okay, not the reaction I was hoping for, but it was his reaction and he admitted that I did infact suprise him. YES!! He hasn't said as much, but I get the idea that he has learned that some suprises are okay.
This week I am cleaning up my place from thowing things everywhere upon my return. I had less than 5 hours before having to turn in to prepare for work the next day....and I am peeling like crazy. I had forgotten how much this part of the sunburn itches.

Day one in Vegas: we took two gondola rides, mainly because I couldn't decide if I wanted to do the indoor or outdoor ride, so we did both. We walked through 8 hotel/resorts, and took the elevator to the top of the eiffle tower to watch the fountain show at the Balagio. The new Cosmopolitain is crazy. It's like walking in to a 2 story chandalier. My photos don't do it justice, but it has to be experienced.
We went to the first show of the blue man group. That was fun!! I thought it was interesting when the BF asked one for an autograph and offered a Sharpie...he kissed the front cover of the program and left blue lip marks and a little dot where his nose touched too. (lol)!
Then we walked through Treasure Island and didn't realize how bad our seats were for the show. We went back to the room to rest up for Thursday.

Day two: We drove to Grand Canyon West and joined a tour group at the Grand canyon West Airport. We took a bus to three stops, and got to choose our lunch by the menu - each stop had a different menu. The first stop at Eagle Point, we got to do the sky walk. I DID IT! but was in tears by the time I got off the walk. I don't like heights...anxiety is more the term. I was doing okay until BF called the photographer back and asked to have one of us taken laying face down on the glass like we were sky diving. - that was when I lost it.
The next stop was Guano Point BF handed me the camera and then ran over to sit on a rock that was cantalevered over the edge. He sat with his legs dangling over the 4,000 foot drop. He called back for me to take his photo. I cried out and people near by must have thought that someone had falled in by the terror in my voice. I stood there frozen, just staring at him. "I can't." - "Oh, c'mon, just take it." - "No, no, no, no...and I repeated that until he got off the rock and came over to me. I was in tears.
He asked if I was okay and i muttered, "I can't loose you like that. If you want that photo, I cannot be anywhere around, someone else will have to take it." He go the idea then that htis isn't just your average fear of heights. It's more an anxiety for safety. Mine and others.
The third stop was a ranch with a western town mock up. they had a working hotel, blacksmith, and we ate in the dance hall. After lunch the BF saw a cowboy throwing a hatchet and asked if he could learn. He tried 3 times and it landed in the dirt 3 times. I asked if I might learn. one throw, one hit! I encouraged BF to try again. 3 more tires, 3 more that landed in the dirt. I tried one and hit one...again.
This earned me an Indian Name...KICKING BIRD....I kicked BF's @$$!
on the way back to Vegas, we stopped by the Hoover Dam and took some photos,we agreed that we would return the next day for the tour.
We returned to the hotel and cleaned up for dinner at the Freemont experience. I was so tired with my chronic fatigue that I am not sure if I really enjoyed it. I saw the video over head, we ate, and saw some impersonators, but I was exhausted...so we went back to the room for the night.

Day Three: began at the Hoover Dam. We found a place near by that offered $60 helicopter tours of the Dam. The ride lasted about 5 minutes, but being a first time thing for me, I didn't care.
Next we toured the Dam and took Buku photos! we bought lunch and returned to the room. I slept through the heat of the day and then we went to Treasure Island to see the show again.. from a better angle. After the show we took the bus to Mandolin Bay and saw the rest of the resorts as we walked back up the strip to our hotel. It was nicely timed with the last fountain show at the balagio for the night.

Day Four: We woke, pakced, got breakfast and flew home on the noon flight. Upon our arrival we went to Mom and Dad's to give Mom her Mother's Day gift. She collects mugs from different places and I got her one at the Sky Walk..gave Dad his Father's Day gift early. A shot glas from the sky walk. He wasn't displeased about that.

So, long story short. Sorry, that I haven't been online a lot lately.

It sounds really exciting, and I am glad he enjoyed it, rather than throw his toys out of his pram when he realised it wasn't Disney!
Sorry to hear about your knee - had you bought some high heels!
I have been decorating three rooms at once - not a sensible idea, but all is over now and nearly complete... just the suite to arrive, at the moment I can't have visitors as there is no where for them to sit! lol
Have a good weekend, and get some rest for that knee!
Re sunburn. I purchased the sun block upon arrival, but when told what we couldn't take on the sky walk we left a lot of stuff in the car... ie sunblock. Had we realized that they had lockers...
