Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 11:40 PM CDT on October 15, 2008

The National Weather Service in League City has issued an

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
northeastern Harris County in southeast Texas...
southwestern Liberty County in southeast Texas...
southeastern Montgomery County in southeast Texas...

* until 130 am CDT

* at 1133 PM CDT... there have been reports of evening street and
feeder Rood flooding in the area of beltway 8 and Highway 59 north.
Doppler radar indicates additional rainfall moving through this
region over the next hour or two. Rainfall amounts of between 3... to
as high as 6... inches have fallen over the advised areas since this
afternoon. An additional inch or two of rain over north central
Harris... eastern Liberty... and extreme southeastern Montgomery
counties will only exacerbate this urban flooding situation.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may cause elevated water levels
on small creeks... streams... and bayous. Additionally... ponding of
water will occur on highways... streets... and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage areas and low lying areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
depth and speed of flood waters.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall are still possible in the
advisory area through the early morning hours.

Please report flooding to the County sheriff... local police... or
department of public safety and ask them to relay your report to the
National Weather Service.
