Coastal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 9:45 PM EDT on October 13, 2008

... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect from 7 am to 10 am
EDT Tuesday...

A coastal flood advisory remains in effect from 7 am to 10 am EDT
Tuesday.

An approaching full moon... combined with persistent onshore
winds... will result in shallow coastal flooding around the time
of high tide Tuesday morning along the southeast South Carolina
and southeast Georgia coast. In Charleston Harbor... the tide
level is expected to reach between 7.0 and 7.2 feet during the
800 am high tide. At fort Pulaski... the tide level is expected to
reach between 9.0 and 9.2 ft during the 800 am high tide. Minor
saltwater flooding in the normal flood prone areas is likely for
two to three hours either side of high tide.

Do not drive into areas where water covers the Road. The water is
often deeper than it appears... and less than two feet of water
can stall a vehicle.

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate some flooding of low areas along the
shore. Shallow coastal flooding begins along the lower South
Carolina coast when tides in the Charleston Harbor reach 7.0 feet
mean lower low water and along the north Georgia coast when tides
reach 9.2 feet mean lower low water at fort Pulaski.
