Small Craft Advisory, Hazardous Seas Watch


... Hazardous seas watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through
Sunday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Small Craft
Advisory... which is in effect from 11 PM Thursday to 5 PM PDT
Sunday. A hazardous seas watch has also been issued. This
hazardous seas watch is in effect from Saturday afternoon through
Sunday afternoon.

* Winds: north 20 to 25 kt with Thursday night increasing to 25 to
30 kt with gale gusts possible on Friday and Saturday
afternoons.

* Seas... steep, wind-driven 7 to 10 feet through Saturday.
Possibly increasing to 8 to 11 feet early Saturday evening.

* Areas affected... conditions will deteriorate from south to north
until it affects all areas by Saturday afternoon. The highest
waves and strongest winds will be south of Pistol River from 9
to 30 nm from shore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that winds and seas will create a
potential hazard to smaller vessels and inexperienced mariners.

A hazardous seas watch is issued when the risk of very steep and
hazardous seas has significantly increased, but the specific
timing and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to
provide additional lead time for mariners who may wish to
consider altering their plans.
