Fire Weather Warning

Statement as of 12:19 PM MDT on July 12, 2009

... Red flag warning in effect until 10 PM MDT this evening for
gusty southwest winds and low relative humidity across western
and southwestern Utah. This warning includes fire weather
zones 420... 434... 439... and 435 below 7000 feet...

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a red
flag warning... which is in effect until 10 PM MDT this evening
for gusty southwest winds and low relative humidity across
western and southwestern Utah. This warning includes fire weather
zones 420... 434... 439... and 435 below 7000 feet.

Southwesterly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts in excess of 30
mph are expected to develop across much of western and
southwestern Utah this afternoon. These winds... when combined
with a drying airmass in place across the region... .will result
in critical fire weather conditions across western and
southwestern Utah this afternoon and evening. These winds across
expected to gradually diminish after sunset.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
