The land annexed includes a 40-acre tract, which the board voted to purchase for $40,000 for use as a park and picnic area. 1991 — 25 years ago: Hard work and strong family ties weaved their ways in to the fabric of success for two area farmers who recently were honored as Illinois Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmers. Jerry and Lori Norman, of rural Erie, and Mike and Kathleen Holt, of rural Woodhull, were named first and second runners-up, respectively, in the 1991 Illinois Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmers award program held Aug. 17 in Moline.
