marine weather statement for Newfoundland issued by Environment
Canada at 3:01 a.M. NDT Sunday 7 September 2008.
...Post-Tropical Storm Hanna crossing southern Newfoundland Sunday
night...
At 3:00 am NDT Tropical Storm Hanna was located over Long Island New
York. The storm..expected to transition to Post tropical before it
moves over Newfoundland waters..is forecast to be near Cape Breton
island by this evening and then move to lie over the Funk Island Bank
by Monday afternoon. The remnants of Hanna are expected to bring gale
force winds to all the marine district with the exception of extreme
northern and western waters beginning after midnight and persisting
into Monday.
There is still some uncertainty regarding Hanna due to the inherent
complex nature of transitioning tropical storms. Please refer to
subsequent marine forecasts for the most up-to-date information
regarding the progression of this system as additional marine
warnings may be required.
