Areal Flood Warning


... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1100 am MDT Wednesday for
Lewis And Clark County...

At 813 am MDT, Montana Department of Transportation officials and
local law enforcement reported flooding across the warned area,
including in or near Augusta and Helena. 4 to 8 inches of rain have
fallen across much of the warned area. US Highway 287 at mile marker
38.8 near Augusta currently has up to 12 inches of running water
from Elk Creek across the Highway. Road closures are possible if
water levels continue to rise.

Flooding has been reported or is occurring for many of the rivers
and streams in the County.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Helena, Lincoln, East Helena, Augusta, Wolf Creek, York, Rimini,
Spring Meadow lake State Park, Austin, Nilan Reservoir, Bean Lake,
Bowmans corner, Marysville, Craig, Canyon creek and black Sandy State
Park.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
