Statement as of 3:45 am MDT on August 30, 2008

Fire Weather Warning

... Red flag warning now in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening for
portions of south central Montana for hot temperatures... low humidities
and gusty winds...

The red flag warning is now in effect until 9 PM MDT this
evening.

The red flag warning includes the following fire weather zones
... 123... 124... 125... 126.

Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and mid 90s today
while relative humidities drop into the single digits and lower
teens. Gusty winds of 15 to 30 mph from the southwest will
continue through this evening. A cold front will drop southeast
into the area this evening allowing relative humidities to begin
to recover. Although relative humidities will recover behind the
front... gusty winds can be expected for a few hours before
diminishing.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
gusty winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
