... Cold front brings clouds... rain... and cooler temperatures to the Borderland today...
A strong cold front pushed through south central New Mexico and far West Texas overnight. Plenty of thunderstorm activity developed over the Rio Grande Valley and Tularosa basin during the nighttime hours as southwest flow aloft was push up over the cooler surface airmass which moved in behind the front.
Today an upper level trough will also swing across the area from the west. East of the Continental Divide abundant low clouds and scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms are expected into the afternoon hours due to the interaction of this trough with the cold front and moist low level air. Due to cloud cover... easterly winds... and precipitation temperatures will be significantly cooler and well below seasonal normals today.
Drier air will move back into the area tomorrow reducing rain chances and limiting the area for rain chances. Temperatures will also begin to warm as cloud cover diminishes.
