Areal Flood Warning


... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 400 am MDT Thursday for
central Fremont County...

* at 6 am... the Wind River near Kinnear was down to 8.4 feet. Flood
stage is 9 feet. The river crested near 9.4 feet Tuesday.

* At 6 am... the Wind River at Riverton was at 10.6 feet. Flood stage
is 9 feet. The river crested last night at 11.15 feet. However the
Wind River at Riverton is expected to remain above the 9 foot
flood stage until midday Thursday. At 10 feet, extensive
agricultural flooding continues downstream of Riverton near the
black bridge and Hidden Valley areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
