Tornado Watch


The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
western and south-central Kansas
western Oklahoma
eastern Texas Panhandle

* effective this Tuesday afternoon from 320 PM until midnight
CDT.

* Primary threats include...
several tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes
    possible
widespread large hail expected with isolated very large hail
    events to 3 inches in diameter possible
scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

Summary... thunderstorms will intensify soon along the dryline over
the TX Panhandle... and along a boundary extending across western KS.
This area is likely to see several severe/supercell storms capable
of very large hail... damaging winds... and a few tornadoes. There is
the potential for strong tornadoes this afternoon and evening.

The Tornado Watch area is approximately along and 70 statute
miles east and west of a line from 75 miles north northeast of
Garden City Kansas to 70 miles west southwest of Clinton

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.
