the Des Moines River at Des Moines se 6th St, or from below the
center street dam... to Runnells.
* Until further notice.
* At 12:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 23.0 feet, or 1.0 feet below
flood stage.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise to flood stage this evening. Continue rising to
26.5 feet, or 2.5 feet above flood stage, Friday morning.
* Impact... at 26.3 feet, water covers Arthur street east of Carlisle.

the Des Moines River.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:45 am Wednesday the stage was 10.8 feet, or 1.2 feet below
flood stage.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise to flood stage late this afternoon. Continue rising
to 17.1 feet, or 5.1 feet above flood stage, Saturday evening.
* Impact... at 17.2 feet, water overtops portions of fleur drive.

Flash Flood Watch


... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of central Iowa, south central Iowa, southwest Iowa,
and west central Iowa, including the following areas, in
central Iowa, Boone, Dallas, Polk, and story. In south central
Iowa, Madison. In southwest Iowa, Adair and Cass. In west
central Iowa, Audubon, Greene, and Guthrie.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* a widespread swath of 1.5 to 3 inches of rainfall is anticipated
this afternoon into the early evening hours. This heavy rain
will fall on top of an already saturated ground from recent
rains earlier this week.


* Intense rainfall rates are likely with these storms where 2 to 4
inches per hour rates will be common. Be prepared for water
over roads due to rapid rises on creeks and streams or even
water flowing from farm fields. If a Road is closed or if water
is running over it, please find an alternate Route. Turn around
don't drown.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

should flash flood warnings be issued.
