... Heightened fire danger this afternoon... Strong southwest winds with combine with unseasonably hot and dry conditions to result in an elevated fire weather danger this afternoon. Abnormally dry conditions the past couple weeks have left grass and other fuels unusually dry and susceptible to quickly igniting. The strong southwest winds today will increasethe threat for any fires do that do occur to spread quickly and potentially get out of control. Those spending time outdoors should exercise extreme caution with any flames... and caution should be used with the disposal of any smoking materials. |
