... Flash Flood Watch in effect from late tonight through Wednesday morning... The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Kansas and south central Kansas... including the following areas... in central Kansas... Marion. In south central Kansas... Harper... Harvey... Kingman and Sedgwick. * From late tonight through Wednesday morning. * Scattered to numerous showers will affect the area today. The rain is expected to become more widespread later tonight... and then continue through Tuesday and into Tuesday night. Heavy rainfall is possible... with amounts of 2 to 3 inches likely with locally higher amounts. * This rainfall may affect some areas that experienced the record rainfall that occurred during the past month or so... where some locations in west parts of the Wichita Metro area received 10 to 14 inches of rain in the past 32 days. This has resulted in very moist soil conditions... and any additional heavy rainfall will likely become run-off quickly and could result in minor flooding. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Remember to turn around... don't drown. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued. Ked
