Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:47 am EDT on October 13, 2008

... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 10 am this morning to 7 PM
EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a lake Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 7 PM EDT
this evening.

Strong high pressure building down the eastern Seaboard will
create windy conditions today. East northeast winds sustained
between 15 and 20 mph will occasionally gust to between 25 and 30
mph this afternoon.

Strong and gusty winds will create rough and hazardous boating
conditions on area lakes and the intracoastal waters. This may
result in high waves which may tip or swamp small craft.

Forecast as of 10:35 am EDT on October 13, 2008

Now
Through mid afternoon...showers moving over the Atlantic waters at 20 to 25 mph will come ashore the coast mainly between Sebastian and Jupiter inlets. As these showers come ashore between Fort Pierce and Hobe Sound they will produce brief downpours with gusty easterly winds from Fort Pierce south. Rough surf and a high risk of rip currents will make entering the ocean dangerous today. Many of the showers coming ashore from Vero Beach south will reach well into Okeechobee and Osceola counties before diminishing. Brisk easterly winds will also help to push showers that come ashore from Cape Canaveral north into Orange...Seminole...western Volusia and Northeast Lake counties.
