Statement as of 8:00 PM EDT on September 6, 2008
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical
Storm Hanna...located about 120 miles southwest of Islip New
York...and on dangerous Hurricane Ike...located about 60 miles
east of Grand Turk island.
The remnants of Josephine...a low pressure area...are located about
900 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. Shower activity with the
system remains limited...and upper-level winds are currently
unfavorable for re-development to occur.
Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the
next 48 hours.
