Flood Warning
Statement as of 3:34 AM EST on November 14, 2009
The Flood Warning extended for
the Congaree River at Carolina Eastman.
* Until Wednesday evening... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 3 am Saturday the stage was 122.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 115.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise to around 122.9 feet by
this morning and fall below flood stage Tuesday November 17.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 123.0
feet on Feb 16 1984.

The Flood Warning extended for
the Congaree River at Sandy Run.
* Until late Sunday night... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8 PM Friday the stage was 23.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise to around 23.9 feet by
this morning and fall below flood stage Sunday November 15.
* At 24.0 feet... several homes in the Sandy Run subdivision along the
river become flooded.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 23.9 feet
on Mar 31 2005.
Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:27 AM EST on November 14, 2009
The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a
* Flood Advisory for
the Congaree River at Columbia.
* Until late Sunday night.
* At 3 am Saturday the stage was 17.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Advisory stage is 10.0 feet.
* At 19.0 feet... extensive swampland and large areas of farmland and
pasture land downstream from Columbia become flooded.
