Statement as of 5:48 AM MDT on October 11, 2008 ... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 6 PM MDT Sunday... The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 6 PM MDT Sunday. After a lull in the snowfall this morning... snowfall is expected to pick up this afternoon and continue through Sunday. The potential for an additional 10 to 15 inches of snow exists in Yellowstone Park by Sunday evening with 1 to 2 feet in the mountains. In addition... northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph will create blowing and drifting snow. Hunters... travelers and others with outdoor interests should pay close attention to the weather forecast. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite media outlet for the latest forecasts and winter statements. Remember... a Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are imminent or highly likely.
