... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 8 am Wednesday to 5 am MST Thursday...
The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow... which is in effect from 8 am Wednesday to 5 am MST Thursday.
* Timing: winds will increase over and near the mountains late tonight and then affect all of southeast Wyoming Wednesday through Thursday. The winds will be sustained at 25 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 50 mph during that time.
* Total snow accumulations: several inches of new snow are possible over the Snowy Range tonight through Wednesday night. A dusting of new snow is possible this evening over the rest of southeast Wyoming... with little or now new snow later tonight through Wednesday night.
* Winds/visibilities: the strong winds Wednesday and Wednesday night will produce widespread blowing and drifting snow. The winds will gust as high as 50 mph and visibilities will be near zero at times. The winds will also produce wind chill values as low as 20 to 30 below zero Wednesday night.
* Impacts: the widespread blowing and drifting snow will create hazardous travel conditions with low visibilities. Roads over the area will remain snowpacked and slick.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to strong winds blowing snow around. Use caution when traveling... especially in open areas.
