... Strong Arctic cold front to bring much colder air through
Thursday...
For the first day of December... a strong Arctic cold front
will plunge south across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska
through early afternoon today. A much colder Arctic airmass will
plunge across the region through Thursday in the wake of the cold
front.
After high temperatures in the 30s to lower 40s today... high
temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will only be in the teens
and 20s... with single digits across the mountains on Thursday.
North winds will produce cold wind chill readings.
Areas of light snow will spread south this afternoon and tonight
behind the cold front with snow coverage greatest west of
Interstate 25. 1 to 2 inches of snow will be common tonight in the
lower elevations west of Interstate 25 with 2 to 5 inches across
the mountains.
People... especially children and the elderly... should be
adequately protected from the cold temperatures and cold wind
chills. Make sure to wear warm hats and gloves to protect your
head and hands from the cold temperatures. Wear layered clothing...
Coats and jackets to keep warm when outside.
Animals and pets need to be protected from the drastic change to
colder temperatures. Make sure animals and pets have adequate
shelter from the cold weather... preferably inside your residence
with you.
