Statement as of 4:08 AM MST on March 03, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until midnight MST
tonight...

* timing... periods of moderate to heavy snow will continue this
morning along with gusty north winds. Conditions will improve
during the day with additional snowfall likely by late this
afternoon and evening.

* Total snow accumulations... 5 to 10 inches lower elevations with
around a foot in the northern Laramie range. Higher amounts are
possible on north facing slopes.

* Winds/visibility... north 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph.
Visibilities will be reduced to less than a quarter mile at
times in falling and blowing snow in the morning.

* Impacts... travel will be extremely dangerous this morning.
Roadways will likely be slick and snow covered along with areas
of very low visibility. Interstate 80 will be severely impacted
between Laramie and Rawlins.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Avoid travel in the warning area. If you are planning to travel
in the warning area... listen to the latest weather forecast and
consider traveling at another time or by another Route. If you
must travel in the warning area... use extreme caution when
approaching and driving over Railroad crossings... take along a
winter survival kit. If you become stranded in a rural area...
stay with your vehicle until help arrives. To keep warm in your
vehicle... run your engine 10 minutes each hour... and make sure
the exhaust pipe is clear of snow to avoid Carbon monoxide
poisoning.
