Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 1:06 PM MDT on May 26, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until midnight MDT tonight...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Wyoming and north
central Wyoming... including the following areas... in central
Wyoming... Casper Mountain... Green Mountains and rattlesnake
range... Natrona County lower elevations... Owl Creek and
Bridger Mountains and southwest Big Horn basin. In north
central Wyoming... Bighorn Mountains southeast... Bighorn
Mountains west... northeast Johnson County... southeast Big Horn
basin and southeast Johnson County.

* Until midnight MDT tonight

* saturated soils combined with areas of slow moving thunderstorms
will elevate the flash flood threat through the evening.
Rainfall rates are exceeding 2 inches per hour in some cases. In
addition... storms are repeatedly forming and moving over the
same locations... which could lead to flash flooding or rock and
mud slides... especially in the mountains. An additional 2 to 4
inches of rainfall is possible in the watch area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Special Statement
Statement as of 7:22 PM MDT on May 26, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through midnight... .

Through 930 PM... a line of showers and thunderstorms will
continue to move northeast at 10 to 15 mph across eastern
Natrona County... impacting the Casper area and Interstate 25
to Midwest primarily between 830 and 9 PM. Expect frequent lightning
and heavy downpours with rainfall amounts of 0.10 to 0.25 of an
inch with locally up to one-half inch in 30 minutes. Small pea-
sized hail may also accompany some storms.
