Winter Storm Watch
Statement as of 1:28 PM MST on March 01, 2015

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Monday evening through
Tuesday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Monday evening through
Tuesday afternoon.

* Summary and timing... north winds will increase through Monday
afternoon and snow will begin to fall around sunset Monday
evening. Periods of moderate snow and strong wind will continue
through the day on Tuesday before tapering off Tuesday evening.

* Snow accumulations... 3 to 7 inches with higher amounts possible
south of Lander... in south Casper... and in the Green Mountains
and rattlesnake range. 8 to 12 inches of snow are possible on
Casper Mountain.

* Wind and visibility... north wind will increase through the
afternoon with sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts around
45 mph possible late Monday night through mid morning on
Tuesday. Periods of light to moderate snow with areas of blowing
snow will drop visibility below one mile for several hours
Monday night into Tuesday. Wind chills will be near 20 below
zero at times.

* Impacts... snowfall will create snow packed roadways resulting in
considerable travel impacts... including areas of Interstate 25.
Windy conditions will create low visibility and low wind chills
Monday night and Tuesday which could be deadly to Newborn
livestock and could cause frost bite to humans and animals who
are left exposed to the conditions for an extended period of
time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... a Winter Storm Watch means conditions are favorable
for hazardous winter weather in and close to the watch area.

The latest Road conditions provided by the Wyoming Department of
Transportation are available by calling 5-1-1 or on the internet
at wyoroad.Info.

Special Statement
Statement as of 5:35 AM MST on March 01, 2015

... Significant snow and blowing snow possible Monday night and Tuesday...

An Arctic cold front is expected to sweep south across the area
Monday evening. In wake of this cold front... expect snow to
develop... and become more widespread as the night progresses. The
snow will continue through the day Tuesday. Also... strong
northerly winds will develop resulting in blowing and drifting of
snow. The highest snowfall amounts are expected to occur in
favored upslope locations such as Casper and Lander... while the
windiest area is expected to occur around Buffalo. This storm
system has the potential to bring significant accumulating snow
and blowing snow... which could cause travel difficulties Monday
night and Tuesday along and east of The Divide. Please stay tuned for
further updates on this potential winter storm.
