Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 6:48 PM MST on March 02, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM MST
Tuesday...

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM MST Tuesday.

* Summary and timing... after a round of moderate to heavy snowfall
this afternoon... a tapering off of snowfall will occur early
this evening. Snowfall will then increase with a cold frontal
passage late this evening and continue overnight. The heaviest
period of snow is expected late this evening through around
sunrise Tuesday. Snow will become light through the day
Tuesday... tapering off Tuesday evening.

* Snow accumulations... 4 to 8 inches with the higher amounts in
south Casper... and in the Green Mountains and rattlesnake range.
10 to 13 inches of snow on Casper Mountain.

* Wind and visibility... north wind 20 to 30 mph with gusts around
40 mph late this evening through mid morning on Tuesday.
Periods of light to moderate snow with areas of blowing snow
will drop visibility below one mile for several hours late
tonight and into Tuesday. Wind chills will be near 20 below zero
at times.

* Impacts... snowfall will create snow packed roadways resulting
in considerable travel impacts... including areas of Interstate
25. Windy conditions will create low visibility and low wind
chills tonight and Tuesday which could be deadly to Newborn
livestock and could cause frost bite to humans and animals who
are left exposed to the conditions for an extended period of
time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Transportation are available by calling 5-1-1 or on the internet
