Here is a Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service...
Heavy downpours from showers and thunderstorms will create flooding along streets and in poor drainage areas. 1 to 2 inches of rain in an hour or less can be expected as these showers and storms move south through the region. Small streams flowing through urban areas can frequently back up... especially upstream of where the stream enters underground culverts.
Keep away from culverts and ditches as water can rise rapidly and move swiftly. Do not allow children to play in areas where flooding or ponding of water is occurring... especially near these areas.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway... and be cautious about underpasses that could be filled with water. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
