Statement as of 7:52 PM EST on March 11, 2010
... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...
The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of western Maryland and northern West Virginia...
including the following areas... in western Maryland... Garrett.
In northern West Virginia... Preston and Tucker.
* Through Sunday evening
* the National Weather Service continues to advise that small
streams now swollen from the continued snow melt may begin to
flood starting tonight. Periods of rain tonight into Sunday...
and in particular potentially widespread heavier rain
Saturday... will further increase the risk of flooding for
small streams as well as for points along the youghiogheny and
cheat rivers and their tributaries.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts of snow melt and rainfall through the weekend.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
