... A shower with strong wind gusts will affect Fayette... Nicholas... Pocahontas and Webster counties...
At 534 am EDT... showers with heavy rain and strong wind gusts were near Babcock State Park and other areas in eastern portions of Fayette... Nicholas and Webster counties... and southern Pocahontas County... moving north at 35 mph.
Heavy rain... up to half an inch per hour... from these showers could cause water to pond on roads and quickly fill roadside ditches and small streams. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are also possible out of these showers. Snow melt will add to the problem over the very high terrain... above 3000 feet.
The rain will impact the West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 53 and 67.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
