A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for heavy snow... significant icing... or a combination of these events. Watches are usually issued 12 to 36 hours in advance.
An Ice Storm Warning is issued when a quarter of an inch or more of ice is expected. A Winter Storm Warning is issued when heavy snow or a combination of hazardous winter weather is expected. Warnings are usually issued 6 to 24 hours in advance.
A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when wind chill temperatures are expected to be between minus 10 and minus 24 degrees with a wind speed of 5 mph or more.
A wind chill warning is issued when wind chill temperatures are expected to be less than or equal to minus 25 degrees with wind speeds of 5 mph or more.
