The light rain that has been observed this afternoon has changed to light snow over the higher terrain. Snow has already been reported at Snowshoe. The changeover to snow will continue this evening for elevations above 3500 feet. The snow will better accumulate as the evening wears on... as temperatures fall to just below freezing. Accumulations of one to two inches can be expected overnight... mainly across eastern facing slopes above 3500 feet.
Motorists should be alert for possible slippery conditions tonight on the High Mountain roads.
The precipitation is expected to change over to light rain on Thursday... as warmer air infiltrates the area.
