the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh PA has confirmed a
microburst /straight line wind damage/ near Clarion in Clarion
County western Pennsylvania on 06/30/2015.
Damage included one snapped tree... a few uprooted trees... and
a metal roof from a garage was displaced approximately 30 yards.
Wind entered the structure through a failed garage door then
peeled the metal roof off. Damage was just south of State Route
322 along daves storage Lane. There was also fascia removed from
a house on daves storage Lane.

a microburst is a convective downdraft with an affected outflow
area of less than 2 1/2 miles wide and peak winds lasting less than
5 minutes. Microbursts may induce dangerous horizontal/vertical
wind shears... which can adversely affect aircraft performance and
cause property damage. Straight-line winds are generally any wind
that is not associated with rotation... used mainly to
differentiate them from tornadic winds.
