... Funnel clouds possible with developing storms this afternoon...

An area of clearing across parts of southern Wisconsin will allow
the atmosphere to become unstable this afternoon... particularly
in the layer very near the surface. Such an environment is
conducive to brief funnel clouds underneath developing showers and
thunderstorms.

These funnel clouds are not associated with areas of mid level
storm rotation. They are produced when a thunderstorm develops
rapidly along a pre-existing surface boundary.

On rare occasions some of these funnel clouds will briefly make
contact with the surface... usually producing little to no damage.
The best course of action if you spot a funnel cloud is to seek
shelter indoors.
