Statement as of 9:06 PM CST on December 23, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST Thursday... A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST Thursday. * Precipitation of snow and sleet will transition to freezing rain and sleet throughout the night. Temperatures may warm enough near the lake from Port Washington south to the Illinois border for all rain during the overnight. The mixture is expected to change over to mostly rain and drizzle on Thursday. * Total snow and sleet accumulations expected into Thursday morning... 2 to 4 inches. * Ice accumulations less than one quarter inch are possible into Thursday morning. * Winds... blustery east winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph will continue into Thursday morning. * Hazardous travel associated with snow and ice covered roads is occurring. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.
